  1. Hey Katie, I really like your photos! My favorites are 13 and 9. I saw several pictures of snow and I personally hate the stuff. This picture is calming. The contrast between the show and the trees is good because you can see every little twig. I enjoyed 13 because of the framing. I like that you didn't put the window in the center of the shot and the room looks dark while outside it is bright. For your POW I would have to say 13!

  2. The tree that you captured in photograph 4 is beautiful. I particularly enjoy the angle in which you shot the picture. Another photograph I liked, and also your POW #4. I am not entirely sure what is captured in this picture, and this adds to its mystery. The natural lighting created from the sun contrasts extremely well with the dark stone and creates great shadows.

  3. The light shining through the roof in photo 5 looks awesome! I liked the way photo number 11 was composed. I think photo number 13 is your photo of the week because of the contrast between the snow and the trees.

  4. Hi Katie. I really liked several of your photos. However three of them really stood out for me. In photo 9, I really liked the way that the stark, bleak wintery scene out side of the window contrasts against the darkness of the room within (The features of the wall are barely visible). Photo 13 is very well framed. It manages to capture tranquility in a way that creates a calming effect. I'm not sure how much brightness vs. shadow is in that photo, but the content of it is very appealing. I think the photo I like the most though was number 4. You managed to take a "tree" pic and capture some very unique light and shadow contrasts, particularly toward the center of the tree. The way the tree falls against the backdrop of the sky makes it really pop out of the photo. The placement of the tree against the sky also frames very well. For me, photo number 4 is your POW.

  5. Hey Katie, I really liked a lot of your pictures. I went through them and the ones that stuck out to me were definitely 3, 5, and 9. On 3, the way you took a close up of just a portion of your face shows the depth of the picture, leaving a mysterious aura for the person looking at the photo. The way you only captured a part of your face shows the intensity, like you're only willing to expose yourself to a certain degree. Also, the way you captured 5 is really interesting. You can't clearly identify the scene due to angle but the light coming in through the roof adds contrast to the photograph. I think 9 is your POW because of the way that you took the picture and because of the lighting. You off centered the window, showing both the inside and the outside of your scene. It contrasts against the darkness of the room and livens up the picture. 9 offers a double meaning to the setting.

  6. Hey Katie! I really love the serenity in all of your photos. I get such a calm feeling when I look at your photographs. I really enjoy picture number 4. I think it is a very interesting composition. I love the angle at which I am seeing the treetops. I feel as though I am laying on the ground and looking up at the trees. It makes me really stop and think while I look at this photograph. I think your POW is photo #9. I love the dramatic contrast between the bright light spilling through the window and the dark wall juxtaposed right next to it. I also really enjoy how the photograph is off-centered. I think it makes for a much more interesting photograph.

  7. Hey Katie!
I really like picture number 12. I love that even City Hall is in the background it still catches the eye right away. The glowing effect from the light is a little distracting but still a good picture. I would go with number 3 as your POW because I love the way the light is coming in and shining on only half of your face.

  8. I would have to say #6.

The Construction of the work: the shot uses visual and technical tools such as Texture, nice use of macro, good lighting, and a great tone of detail to make it more dynamic and mysterious.

The Communication of the work: The photo can be read well; the content does not resonate with my own interests, but I can't help but to love the approach you took. It's nice and close, and captures a large amount of detail. It's not just a picture of a plant in a pot, rather, it seems its in its natural environment...Hawaii you luck girl you haha.

The Conception of the work: I'm seeing a pattern of motivation for the majority of these photos, which would have to be an interest in your surrounding, and the world around you. The majority of your photos caught my eye, and I wish i could vote on more of them to be the pow, but it is what it is.

    great job,

    -Steve

  9. Hi Katie! 4 and 13 work best for me in this selection. 4 was captured with interesting framing and a good angle. I like how it is only a part of the whole and the contrast looks really nice. In 13 you were able to capture a lot of light from the snow. Everything still looks untouched and kind of magical.

  10. Hi Katie! I really liked all of your photos, but my favorites are definitely #13 and #1. I really like how you hair falls on your hand yet, still catch your eyes giving the viewer a story. A hint that you are in deep thought. I really liked #13 because of the framing and contrast of the photo. Good job!
