Hey Alex, great photographs! I really like the contrast in photo #1! I also enjoyed the meat photo (#6) because it is different from what I have seen on other blogs. As for your POW, I would choose #8 because I love the expression you caught from the two women behind the counter.
Alex, I like the way the light reflects off of the water in photo number 3. I also like the angle of photo number 7, great shot! I think your POW is number 2 because of the contrast between the light and the dark.
I would say that your POW is #8, because the subject is very unique. I like how the subject is not looking directly at the camera, and how their dark clothes contrast with the brightness of the photo. Photo #4 is also really cool. I like the symmetry that you captured with the railing dividing the two sides of the photo.
I think you really captured some unique moments in your photographs-- especially 6 and 8. The meat photograph is something that I really enjoy because you have made something that you do not think anything about into something artistic and almost meaningful. I think you could create an emotional or even social piece behind this photograph because of its context and thoughts that it stirs. I really enjoyed the lighting and the reflection that you captured in photo number 4. I believe this is your POW because you had a good balance of contrast and didnt have too much black or too much white but a whole range of tones.
Hi Alex. I love all of the cityscape shots. Particularly the three subway photos. These do a great job of exploring contrast between light and shadow as well as understanding framing. They are also realistic windows into how a subway station really "feels" in the middle of winter. Photo 4 is framed really well. The symmetry is spot on and I love how the shadow all around really focuses on the light reflecting off of the walls. this photo almost takes on the persona of a living being. I think this would be my choice for you for POW.
Hey Alex. I love all the scenes you captured. Its cool how you took everyday elements and manipulated them to add a deeper meaning, showcasing the beauty of the objects or landscapes in a way that passersby do not notice. My POW has to be 4. The way the shot is angled makes it seem as though the stairwell is infinite creating a mysterious aura. The light at the bottom though justifies that there is an eventual end even though it is not noticed in the ending of the stairwell. The random lighting also adds depth to the picture.
Hey Alex! I really love all of your photographs. Each of your photos are very striking in the way that the dark and light contrast. Your images force me to look at ordinary objects and places and to look at them in a new way. I think your POW is #4. This picture held my attention for a while. I love the distinct sections of dark and light shadows. I also think that the symmetry in the picture works really well. The most interesting thing about this photograph is that if you look at it long enough, the stairway no longer looks like a stairway. The interesting angle at which this photograph is shot looks as though the railings are the legs of a large insect or creature coming towards me. I just thought it was really cool to look at something so ordinary as a staircase, and to see it in a completely different way.
Hey Alex! I really enjoyed your first picture. I love the contrast of the picture as a whole and love the light and clouds reflecting off of the buildings. The reflections really give it an interesting effect. I would go with this as your POW. I also really enjoyed the contrast in the second picture as well. Such a jump from dark to light, great play with the black and white.
Hi Alex! I think your pictures are really great. The lighting and shadows on almost all of them are really quite striking. I really like numbers 2 and 3. They're opposite perspectives on what I can assume is the same place--the subway platforms. #2 shows the darkness and it adds an uncomfortable feeling because you don't know what's in the subway. #3 is really beautiful. I love the brightness in the lights on the ceiling and their reflections on the ground. It adds balance to the picture and the glossiness of the wet ground works well.
I think I'd have to say your POW is photo 4. I love the symmetry, the balance, and the light that's only at the top of the stairs so it only slightly lights up the stairwell from the top down.
Hey Alex! 3, 4 and 8 I think turned out really neat. The reflective light captured on the floor in 3 is really interesting. It comes across washed out. It kind of looks like it might have been wet, considering with this crazy weather I'm sure that's true but it turned out really cool. 4 attracted me by the framing of the lines of the railings and overall geometric symmetry. And 8 I think you captured personality and character brilliantly POW-8
Hi Alex, great photos. I liked how your photos each captured a scene yet most didnt center focus on one item. I'd pick you POW as #8, I enjoyed how natural the photo appeared.
Hi Alex! Awesome photos! I think your POW is #8. I really like the framing and lighting in this photo. I like that it has a story behind it and catches two women in action. You captured the beauty of the every day life of working women. Good job!
