  1. Hey Jada, beautiful photos! #3 is great because I like the landscape and the fact that you centered the gazebo to be in the middle of the photograph. The white snow and gazebo against the dark trees and sky is nice too. #6 is also a beautiful close-up of a rose and the black and white makes the rose pop out! For your POW, I would choose #12. That photo stuck out to me the most because the contrast of the white tea cups against the black tea and the granite counter top is very nice!

  2. Nice pictures Jada! I think my favorites are photo 1 and your very first self portrait. I I like the portrait because you can only really see your silhouette. The lighting is perfect and the angle which the photo was taken is good as well! I like the picture of the ceiling fan because it is simple but has a lot of dimension. For your POW I would say photo 1!

  3. POW=10
great use of hard light and composition, it makes me question and try to figure out what was going on here.
the tac and the tire are enemies and create tension here. but the simplicity and placement of objects really make it standout for me

  4. POW: first self portrait
Hello Jada : : Beautiful photos! I love how each photo captures something completely different. Not one of your photos is remotely similar to one another. Your first self portrait is amazing, there are so many details to this photo that I originally did not see until I came back to it a few times. My eye kept going back and forth between your extremely dark silhouette and the bright light that is in front of you. Even though there is so much going on in this photo, there is still great focus (on you/your silhouette). It is evident that the subject matter in this photo is about the human form. I love how you chose to show only the backside of your body, it keeps the audience wondering on what is on the other side.

I also really enjoy looking at photo # 12. I like how you decided to use overhead lighting because it accentuates the different textures inside the bowl.It makes me feel like I am there actually eating!

  5. I liked that you have a large number of photographs to choose from. Photographs 7 and 1 stood out to me the most because of the great shadows created from artificial light. I think #7 is your POW because the content of the photograph is interesting and mysterious, and I like the fact that there is some reflections created from the mirror.

  6. I like the lighting in photo number 1 a lot. Photo number 3 has great contrast going on. Your POW is photo number 12 because of how clear it is.

  7. Jada, I really like photo 12. It is really clear and is framed well. I also think that 10 is interesting. There is a slight warmth to it that I didn't notice at first glance. I think that your POW is 4. It has great contrast and the lights in the photo are framed in a way that really make your eyes travel across the picture.

  8. Hi Jada. So many of your photos are great at showing the venture into the world of shadow it was hard to pick from among them. Your first self-portrait, with your back to the camera does an excellent job of both exploring shadow and creating mystery. By allowing the light to stream through the blinds you created a very sharp contrast between the light and your silhouette. I love photo one for the simplicity of the subject and the shadow and tonality the contrast created. 5 is another great example of understanding how to be playful with the contrast between light and shadow and 6 is an great example of understanding framing. For me, your POW is a toss up. Photo 2 is just an excellent shot. For its content, framing, and understanding of shadow. I love how the elephants head pops out against the bright white backdrop and I love how you dropped it into the lower portion of the photo instead of more traditionally centering the piece. But, if I had to pick one over the others, I think your POW is 13. I love ho the photo is slightly blurred and the slight coloring which really captures the dismal feeling that this image creates. This scene is both beautiful and dreary at the same time and the way you played with that toning really makes this piece very artistic.

  9. Hi! I have to start off with your POW. I love photo #9. I love that the doors are supposed to be parallel but the focus of the picture are the icicles. It's an odd feeling, because it doesn't feel balanced, but it works great in the this. The slight yellow tint gives me the warm feeling of the sun beating on the picture, too. Great job.

I also really like #13 because of the blurriness. Without the blur, there wouldn't be one spot my eyes go directly to, but with the blurred area, I focus directly on the ice chunk. It's a great picture!

  10. Hi Jada! I think 13, 4 and your first self portrait are my favorites. First 13 captured this frozen weather well and I think the blur applied to it works well. 4 captures a interesting framing of lines and shapes and your self portrait for me is your POW. I love the focus on the darkness and shadows and the main source of lighting coming only through the blinds.

  11. Hi Jada! I have to go with number 5 for your POW! I love the lighting and the contrast of the photo. I also liked the #9 because it captures winter/snow aftermath. I liked the framing of this image as well.
