Hey Kelsey! Your photos number 11 and 12 are very unique and interesting. I have definitely spent some time looking at them and trying to determine how you managed this shot! I really like the angles of your photos 10, 8,7, and 6 because I also love to take something ordinary and make it look different and unique by changing the angle we usually view the subject in. I really like shot number 7 but I would love it if the contrast was amped up a bit and the shadows got even darker and almost reached black. I think this would definitely add a lot more drama and mystery to the piece. For me I think your POW is photo number 5 because I really like the textures that you managed to capture between the fuzz on your jacket to the creases in your bag strap. This piece also has a lot of mystery that adds character to the photo and makes the viewer wonder where you are going/what kind of person you are.
Hi Kelsey. For me, both photo 5 and photo 6 really stand out. In photo 5 I like how the hand contrasts against the darkness of the rest of the photo and then how that strap falls across the hand. It creates a great play between dark and light. Photo 6 is my choice for your POW though. I love that you didn't clean up any of the clutter on the ground. It is a very "real" feeling photo and the contrast between the darkness of the hall in which "we" are standing and the light spilling out of the open doorway, but then the chair creates a nice splash of darkness in the middle of it all. This photo makes me want to jump into it so I can walk into that room and see just what else is inside.
Hey Kelsey. I really enjoyed your photos. I particularly like photos 11 and 12. I am still trying to figure out how you executed these shots, but I think they both make for a very interesting composition. I think that your POW is photo #6. I really like the contrast of the dark frame around the bright white doorway to the bedroom. This composition really draws me in to the scene. I also think that the camera angle is very interesting because of how high it is. It looks like it is from the point of view of a very tall person.
Hey Kelsey! I really liked numbers 11 and 12 as well. Very interesting and just like the other comments still trying to figure out how you manipulated that. I personally liked number 3 the best. I like how the lighting is coming in from the side but not too bright and casts a distinctive shadow of the mask onto the wall.
Camera angles are crucial to a great photo and I think you captured this in both #6 and #7. Your POW is #7; The angle used in this shot is very interesting because typically someone would be looking down into the space. However, instead you decided to go into the space and take the shot looking up. I think by choosing to shoot with a low angle rather than a high angle created a different perspective for the viewer. Because I am looking upward it actually makes me feel very small and insecure because I am looking up at matter that is higher. Very interesting! Keep up the great angles. Also, 11 & 12 are really great/scary. I have seen people flip pictures upside down so it looks like chairs/tables are on the ceiling.... but you did something quite different here. It looks like the chairs are floating in the middle of the air not even touching the ground.
Your angles are really amazing, it gives different perspectives of different materials. I like mostly how #11 and 12 are. It gives a lot of thoughts and makes one question the entire existence of the photograph.Your very manipulative of our surroundings and shadows. POW: 11
The Construction of the work: the shot uses visual and technical tools such as lines (especially strap that makes my eyes follow it past the love ring), great lighting, and a birds eye point of view to make it more dynamic and mysterious.
The Communication of the work: The photo can be read pretty well. The content does not resonate with my own interests, but I do with the Love symbol. I skateboard, and Love Park is one of the most well known skateboarding spots in the world. Therefore, I feel a kind of attachment to the photo.
The Conception of the work: Although I'm not seeing a pattern of motivation for the majority of these photos, I could see in the last two pictures you take notice in the bizarre and out of the ordinary things.
Hi Kelsey! I think you have some good pictures here. I like #7 and #3. I like the shadows cast in #3 but I wish there was a little more contrast to give the wallpaper more texture. This is also what I think I would add to #7. I love that the light at the top guides my eyes right there. It's the focus of the picture and I think the pattern works. I just wish there was a little bit more texture, although this is still one of my favorite pictures.
I think your POW is #11. The lighting and oddities really give this picture a horror movie kind of feel. It's really cool! I like that the corners on the walls give a sense of longevity in the hallway and it brings the audience right down the hall.
Hey Kelsey! Cool black and white collection! My favorites of yours are 7, 10, and 12. I like 7 because it has smooth leading lines that create a lovely textured pattern. Because it is being taken from inside of a basement, it makes me wonder what is outside in plain view. This one in my opinion is your cleanest and strongest photo and it should be your POW. I also like number 10 because the straight, rigid, wooden steps contrast well with the furry kitty in the center at the bottom of the steps. Interesting bird's eye perspective too. I like number 12 because it is extremely mysterious and even scary which I like. It looks very simple yet there is an upside down chair next to a big dark door. Very well done keep it up!
