Hi Steve! I was really drawn to your shutter priority photos. I think you captured a very interesting perspective of motion which was hard for me, personally, to capture using my phone. I also enjoy your use of bold colors in some of your photos and the positioning of your subjects. For me your POW is photo number 20 because of your subject placement, use of color and also the movement you successfully captured in your photo. If I were to give you constructive critism, I would suggest cropping some of your photos to get rid of the "piclay" ads in the corners and the black edging in some of your panoramas, which are distracting to the eye and take away from your good ideas. To achieve the look of layering photos you could try delaying your exposure time and expose two different "scenes" on top of each other.
ReplyDeleteHey Steve, you have a nice collection of photos this week. I really like the editing techniques that you used for your self portraits. You used two very different photos to overlay (one being the city and the other being yourself) and they came together to create a really nice photo.
ReplyDeleteYour POW is 20. I like that there is motion in the photo which is created through the blurriness. You shot this at a nice angle so that we can see the skater's body and his environment.
hey Steve! I really like your photo 22. I think that the way you layered the photo is really cool. I also like the colors you wore in the shot to contrast with the plain tan building. You used a lot of really good techniques and have a good variety of pictures.
ReplyDeleteHi Steve! I really enjoyed all of your photos. You were able to capture a lot of cool shots with different types of techniques. You have a variation of things here which I find really interesting. My favorite pictures are #20 and #21. I think your POW should be photo #21. I really like this self-portrait. I like the color balance and the technique you used to capture the shot. Good job!
ReplyDeleteOut of all your images I would have to say I liked your "Shutter Priority" pictures. My suggestions to you is to try and find a different application that will not post their name on each of your edited photos. If you really like the application, try just cropping it out of your pictures so it makes your photos look a little more professional. As for your panoramic shots, try also cropping out the black parts or by taking a panoramic that is more straight, either vertically or horizontally. This will make your photos a little more clear and aesthetically pleasing. Also, there is a lot of repeated photos (audi symbol and skateboarding). 20 is your POW by far! I love the contrast between the blue and yellow in the sky. I also like how the person on the skateboard is not in focus and looks just like a shadow. You timed this very well and a second before or after would have changed this shot completely. I also like how you got to the same level as the floor to take this shot and are looking up at the subject rather then just being at eye level. Good Work!
ReplyDeletepow = 9, it looks like deconstructed architecture that was put back together. its great and bazar how it goes from sky to buildings to sky because it is not expected and makes you a little confused when looking at it, i wish it was bigger i almost skimmed over it without noticing it. reminds me of the movie inception when the buildings start turning and rotating.
ReplyDeletei really liked the use of texture in this project. the added elements really stand out and create morphed geometry, and warped patterns that catch my eye. (2,3,5,6,7,8) are all in someway distorted and manipulated in a way that ads character to the original object it overlaid on, or in front of. 3 is interesting because i don't know if you shot it behind a mesh screen door or it was an effect used on an ap on your phone.
Photograph 20 is your POW. I liked the unique way that you chose to capture motion. I have not yet seen a photo like this in the class blog, so it is very unique. Overall, all of your photos are very great and I had a tough time deciding which to pick for your POW. I also think 22 and 4 are really great. Good work.
ReplyDeleteHi Steve, you have some very interesting and quirky pictures here. I really like how throughout your entire collection, you seem to have experimented with different methods of extended seeing through different applications, actions and subjects such as skateboards, buildings, and living/non-living subjects. I think your POW should be photo number 17 for a couple of reasons. First off, the lighting is so great in the photo. And also, it is not a stereotypical "extended seeing" shot. This version of extended sight can be interpreted in many ways. For example, we can picture what each person in the photo is looking at (the sky and the other person). Also, the one pair of shoes is closest to the shot while there are trees in the background. I really love your collection, good work!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos Steve! I enjoyed the panoramic picture sand shutter priority ones the best. Within the panoramic section, #10 stood out to me the most. I like the new perspective offered in the picture. It is as if the audience is looking into the room just as you were. I would pick #20 as your POW though because this is a very clean shot using shutter priority. The motion in the picture is clearly evident. Also the lighting and angle of the picture make it a great shot.
ReplyDeleteSteve. I must say, I make the effort to review everyone's photos on here and consistently your's always rank at the top. This week I would say you have the best collection of photos among everyone. So many of these could have been your POW! Both of your self-portraits are really great pieces of art. I love the use of the building behind your face and the ghostly double image. All of the skateboard images capture motion and action really well. Your panoramas are quite candid and I LOVE the effect you got with the spoon. Photo 5 and 2 are very artistic and are framed well. Not sure how you got the effect you got in either of them. I also like the context of the sun cutting away your head in photo 4. I guess if I really had to pick one, it would be photo 22 as your POW. Very inspired.
ReplyDeleteHey Steve, nice work with your photographs! All of your pictures were different from each other and I see a lot of activity going on throughout them. You also did a lot of great layering! I think your POW should be #22. The layering with yourself and the tall buildings really stood out to me, along with the vibrant color of your red shirt against the blue sky. Good job!
ReplyDeletePow: 4
ReplyDeleteI enjoy the way your photos give off the feeling that you are not supposed to be watching. I enjoy your different perspectives and the vibrant colors in your collection . You were very active in your photos, and managed to get multiple scenes. Your pictures are very artistic and your motion and imagery are great.Great job!
